Mary was baptized February 1, 1925 and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Minatare, NE on March 17, 1940. She grew up on the family farm near Minatare and attended public schools in Scottsbluff County.
On January 20, 1946, Mary married Henry Heins. They farmed in Hampton County, NE until 1955 when they moved to Alliance, NE. In 1964 the Heins' family moved to Fort Morgan. Mary worked at the Smorgasbord Restaurant from 1965 until 1973 and then worked at the Gondola Restaurant from 1973 until 1976.
Mary studied Reflexology therapy after which she started her own Reflexology business in 1973. She continued to share her healing gifts with many throughout the rest of her life.
Survivors include her son Royal Dean Heins of Fraser, CO; and 2 grandchildren, Richard Andrew of San Francisco, CA and Christina Lynne of Naples, FL; 2 half-brothers, John Schnell and Edward Schnell; three half-sisters, Ruth Todd, Alvina Schnell, and Judy Jenkins and a step-sister, Alyce Smith.
She was preceded in death her husband Henry, who died in 1998; 1 daughter, Georgine Joyce; 1 sister, Eva Merrigan; 7 brothers, George Schnell Jr., William Schnell, Conrad Schnell, Dave Schnell, Henry Schnell, Alex Schnell, and Pete Schnell; her half-brother, Robert Schnell as well as her step-sister, Pauline, and her parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10:00 AM at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben Ezer in Brush with Pastor Brian Bergum officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 PM Friday evening at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.
