Brother Bernard Vogel OSB, 71, Mandaree, died Oct. 12, 1997, in Dickinson. Services will be held at 11 a.m. CDT Wednesday at St. Anthony Mission, Mandaree, with the Rev. Stephan Kranz OSB officiating; and at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at Assumption Abbey Church, Richardton, with the Abbot Patrick Moore OSB officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Abbey Cemetery, Richardton.

Wake services will be held at 5 p.m. CDT today at St. Anthony Mission; and 7 p.m. MDT Wednesday at Assumption Abbey Church.

Casketbearers will be the Benedictine Monks of Assumption Abbey.

Bernard was born Oct. 16, 1926 (error in obituary-correct year is 1925) at Hillsview, S.D., the son of John E. and Elizabeth (Ettel) Vogel. He was raised and educated in the Aberdeen, S.D. area. He came to Assumption Abbey in 1948. He professed his vows, July 11, 1949. Bernard worked at the Assumption Abbey School until 1969. For the past 25 years he has been at St. Anthony Mission at Mandaree.

He is survived by two brothers, five sisters, and the Brothers of Assumption Abbey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.
