Rev Mother Mary Teresa Repking, 77 years of age, died Wednesday night about 9 o'clock, February 6, 1935 at the St Francis Hospital in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Funeral services were conducted at the home of the Sisters of the Precious Blood, Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas, USA, a member of which Order she has been for about thirty years.
Mother Mary Teresa was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Anton Repking now deceased, of the Bishop Creek community. On three occasions she was fortunate to be permitted to travel to Rome, after having joined the Precious Blood Order. While in Rome she had the happiness of conferring with both Pope Leo XIII and Pope Benedict XV. In 1926 Mother Mary Teresa celebrated her golden jubilee as a nun. She is survived by one brother John Repking who resides on the Repking homestead in Bishop Creek, and one sister: Mrs Tony Koester of Effingham.

Birth name and information:
Maria Anna Theresia Repking was born 23 Jul 1857 at Bishop Creek, Bishop, Effingham, Illinois, USA - at Home. She was baptized on 25 Jul 1857 at Teutopolis, Teutopolis, Effingham, Illinois, USA - St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Note: By Ronald J. Repking.
As a child, I was told that she had visited Rome on several occasions. Once while there, she climbed a flight of stairs on her knees. As a result of this devotion, she was granted a Pleanery indulgence for both herself and for her family even to three generations. The indulgence was granted for her brothers and sisters, for their children and to their children's children.
Her nephew, Bill Repking, showed me the certificate that certified the indulgence, after telling me the story around 1946. She had given the certificate to her brother, John.
While doing a search of the Ellis Island database in May 2001, I found the passenger record reporting her return from Rome: Teresa Repking a citizen of the USA who resided in Rome arrived at Ellis Island on 19 Sep 1905. She was 48 years old, female and single. Her ship was the Cretic which sailed from Naples, Campania, Italy.
