Ruth S Lord, 75, of Greeley died Thursday, Jan 9, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit, Greeley.
She was born Nov 21, 1927 n Greeley to Jake and Katherine (Kissler) Steving.
On June 8, 1947, she married James Edward Lord in Greeley, He died Jan 5, 1984.
A lifelong resident of Greeley, Mrs. Lord received her bachelor’s degree in 1963 and a master’s degree in 1968 from Colorado State College, now the University of Northern Colorado. She taught elementary school at Arlington, East Chappelow, Shawsheen and finally Monfort elementary school before retiring in1989.
Mrs. Lord was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greeley where she was past president of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Hannah Rebecca Circle and active on numerous boards and committees and the Excelcis Club. She was a past president and member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Women Educators Sorority, and a member of Delta Kappa Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a board member of the Greeley Knife and Fork Club and chairwoman of the Hostess Committee for the Weld County Retired School Employees from 1990-2002.
Survivors are a daughter, Gayle Lord of Casper, Wyo; a son, Jim Lord and his wife, Julie, of Greeley; four sisters, Edna Weber, Esther Meyer and Rose Moser, all of Greeley, and Jean Gibbs of Wheatridge; and two grandchildren, Emily Lord of Greeley, and Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew Lord of Okinawa, Japan. Her parents, a sister and three brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Greeley. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
Friends may visit from noon-8 p.m. Monday at the Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel, Greeley.
