Jake Steving Dies Saturday
Jake Steving Sr., 69, a resident of Weld County since 1914, died Saturday morning at his home, 2534 10th Ave. He was a retired farmer.
Born Aug. 15, 1891, in Frank, Russia, Steving came to this country in 1898. He first settled in Oklahoma. In 1908, Steving moved to Sterling, where he was married.
He lived there until Nov. 15, 1914, when he came to La Salle, where he farmed from 1914 until 1950. Following his retirement, the Stevings moved to Greeley.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katherine Steving; nine children, Jake Jr., Walter L, and Leon Steving, Mrs. Henry Weber, Mrs. Reuben Meyer and Mrs. Jim Lord, all of Greeley, Mrs. Philip Weber of Brighton, Mrs. Ray Moser of La Salle and Mrs. Harold Deer of Evens; and a sister Mrs. A. Trotter of Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday from Macys drawing room, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
