Mrs. Connie Deghand, 80, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 18, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Nov. 5, 1906 at Hays, a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Beratz Schiffelbein.
She lived in Topeka since 1927 and earlier lived in Ness City. Mrs. Deghand was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was married to Albert Deghand Jr., Aug. 16, 1927 at Ness City. He died Dec. 7, 1986.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Deghand and Alfred Deghand.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Lillian Stout, Gloucester, Mass., Mrs. Judy Schwartz and Mrs. Marge Weider, both of Emmaus, Pa., and Mrs. Pat Matzek, Topeka; five sons, Leonard J. Deghand, Richard J. Deghand, Robert L. Deghand, Raymond Deghand and Timothy Deghand, all of Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Haefner, Topeka, and Mrs. Mary Pfeifer, Victoria; 30 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Deghand will lie in state from 2 until 9 p.m. today at the church where a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by a parish wake service at 7 p.m. and an Altar Society rosary at 7:30 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 312 Freeman. Brennan Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.
