Catherine Kaberline, 98, Topeka, died Monday, Oct. 2, 1995 at the home of her daughter in Topeka.

She was born June 2, 1897 in Pfiefer, Russia, the daughter of Casper and Mary Ann Weighant Burghart, and moved to the United States with her parents in May, 1898.

She lived in Pfeifer, southeast of Hays and attended Holy Cross School in Pfeifer. She moved to Topeka at the age of 15 and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church many years.

She was married to John J. Kaberline, Jan. 26, 1915. He died March 29, 1976.

A son, Paul Kaberline died in 1918. A daughter, Sophie Kaberline, died in 1937. Survivors include five sons, George Kaberline, John Kaberline, Edward Kaberline, William Kaberline, and Richard Kaberline, all in Topeka; three daughters, Mary Jacobs, Lydia Porubsky, and Patricia Vinning, all in Topeka; a sister, Hilda Boos, Topeka; 34 grandchildren; 59 great-grand-children; 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Kaberline will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where an Altar Society rosary at 3 p.m. Wednesday will be followed by a parish rosary at 6:15 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 227 Van Buren.
