Mrs. Mary S. Gorrell
Mrs. Mary Saraphine Gorrell, 78, Topeka, died Thursday, May 28, 1987, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born March 4, 1909, at Pfeiffer in Ellis County, the daughter of Casper G. and Mary A. Weigant Burghart. She spent most of her life in Topeka.
Mrs. Gorrell was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Chapter O of Women of the Moose and attended the VIP Program of North Topeka Outreach.
She was married to Walter Rose Gorrell Nov. 26, 1940, at Topeka. He died Oct. 15, 1975.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Wilson, Mrs. Theresa Platt, Mrs. Mary Jane O'Brien, and Mrs. Phyllis Beier, all of Topeka; her twin sister, Mrs. Hildegard Boos, Topeka; two other sisters, Mrs. Catherine Kaberline, Topeka, and Mrs. Elizabeth Kippes, Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Gorrell will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 9 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today.
