Ralph J. Reichert 73, Abilene, Kansas, died Thursday February 3, 2005 at the Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas. He was born November 28, 1931 at Fall City, Nebraska the son of Frank and Mary (Sextro) Reichert. He attended Sacred Heart High School, Fall City, Nebraska. Following high school he joined the United States Coast Guard. On January 31, 1953 he was united in marriage with Betty Sue Miller in Topeka, Kansas. They made their home at Riley, Kansas where they owned and operated the Jersey Nook Dairy Farm. They retired and moved to Abilene, Kansas in 2000. He was a member of the Seven Dolor's Catholic Church, Manhattan, Kansas.
Surviving are his wife Betty of the home, five daughters, Connie Brunner, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Nancy Frank and husband Chuck, Louisville, Ohio, Donna Nanninga and husband Ron, Abilene, Kansas, Carol Sinning, Hiawatha, Kansas, Cathy Gabay, and husband Steve, Abilene, Kansas, two sons, Jeffery Reichert and wife Trish, Riley, Kansas, and Ralph Reichert Jr, Kansas City, Missouri, two sisters, Florence Higgins, Metairie, Louisiana, and Ruth Weitl, York, Nebraska, 23 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Private funeral services will be held at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene, Kansas, Monday afternoon with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. Burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until noon Monday.
The family of Ralph J. Reichert suggests that friends may contribute to the Abilene Public Library or the City library at Riley, Kansas in his memory. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
