She was born on October 12, 1939 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Carl and Manilla Bay Nyenhuis Koenig.
Helen married Charles Culbertson on May 28, 1960 in Chicago, IL.
She owned a home daycare in Carpentersville, IL, and then in food services at St. John's hospital until her retirement in 2002.
Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carl Junction since 1982, loved playing dominoes, going on cruises and especially spending time with her family.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, and six brothers: Howard, Donald, Wesley, Richard, Carl, Jr., Bob Koenig.
Survivors include her husband Charles of the home. Three sons: David Culbertson of Joplin, Dan Culbertson and wife Kay of Diamond, MO, and Jason Culbertson and wife Stacey of Harrison, AR; two sisters: Catherine Culbertson and Ruth Riley; eleven grandchildren Alisha Culbertson, Kody Carter, Maranda Bowman, Kalen Childers, Mara Culbertson, Kris Culbertson, Maggie Culbertson, Kaden Culbertson, Makayah Culbertson, Tyler Culbertson and Zach Ledbetter; and two great grandchildren Carter Bowman and Sophia Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Carl Junction with Pastor Russell Roderick officiating, burial will follow in the Carl Junction Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary.
The family suggests contributions to the Helping Hands of Carl Junction or Mission Joplin in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
