Walter Westendorf of Gary, Indiana Dies on Friday
Walter Westendorf of Gary, Calumet, Lake, Indiana, USA, died at 2:15 pm Friday February 19, at the Methodist Hospital there. He had been a patient since January 25th when he underwent major surgery. Before entering the hospital he had been a patient at the Sanitarium since August.
Mr. Westendorf and the former Bertha Lustig were married February 8, 1921. He was born in Jasper on October 4, 1897, the son of the late George Westendorf and Mrs Westendorf Before becoming ill he was a Railroad employee.
Surviving besides his wife, Bertha, are: his mother, Mrs George Westendorf who is 92 years of age, living at Marion, Grant, Indiana, USA; sisters, Mrs Al Beck, Mrs John Psenning, and Mrs W M Yohler all of Marion, Grant, Indiana, USA, . Arthur Hallett of Gary, and brothers Arthur of Newton, Cyril of Wabash, Ind, and Ely of Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 am Monday, Feb 22, at St Mark Church with burial in Calumet Park Cemetery in Crown Point, Ind. Pallbearers were nephews. Attending the funeral from this area were Mrs Allie Dasenbrock of Teutopolis, Arthur Westendorf of Newton and Mr. and Mrs Joe Beall and daughters Sharon, Kathy and Virginia of Mattoon.
