Elmer Weinmaster

A funeral for Elmer Weinmaster, 72 of Gering who died Friday, February 26, 1993 at the Scottsbluff hospital, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, 1993 in Gering Zion Church with the Rev. Paul Hebbert officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Gering Zion Church.

A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 1993 at the Gering Memorial Chapel.

Elmer was born July 20, 1920 in Ault, Colorado to Jake and Freida (Kanzler) Weinmaster. He served overseas in the armed forces during World War II. He was honorable discharged in 1944. He married Esther Walter, November 16, 1947 in Mitchell. He was employed by Swift & Co. for several years before working for Lockwood Corp, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Gering Zion Church, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife; daughters Judy Kissell of Harrison and Jeanette Weimer of Gering; brothers Carl and Jake Weinmaster of Morrill, Delbert Weinmaster of Scottsbluff and Rex Weinmaster of Minnesota; sisters Helen Kuhlman of Kimball, Mildred Schledewitz of Maxwell, Barbara Steffensen of Iowa, Elsie Mason of Gering, Sharon Dinnel of Scottsbluff and Delores Sell of Pheonix, Arizona; half sister Martha Kuhlman of Michigan; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry and sister Dorothy.
