OBITUARY Iron River Reporter November 15 1978 "Anna Franke, Baumgartner District, Dies At 89"
Anna Franke, Baumgartner District, died at the age of 89 on Saturday, November 11, at Crystal Falls Community Hospital, after an illness of a couple of months.
Mrs. Franke was born January 8, 1889, in Milwaukee and came to this area with her parents when she was two years old. She resided most of her life in the Baumgartner District. For the past six years she was a resident of the Highland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain and two months ago, was moved to Crystal Manor. The former Anna Steinke was married to Edward Franke in 1912 and he preceded her in death in 1951.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Marie Proksch, Iron River and four nieces.
Funeral services were at Brooks Funeral Home, Tuesday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Faust, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain, officiating. Mrs. Morris Holm sang "Abide With Me" and "Lead Kindly Light," accompanied by Mrs. Evaldo Contardi, organist.
Pallbearers were Richard Rachey, Joseph Wurzer, Leonard Wurzer, Robert Mehlberg, Charles Proksch and Joseph LaBelle.
Interment was in Stambaugh Cemetery.
Brooks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
