Alma was educated in local schools and then worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Niagara Falls, including her uncle Frank Granto’s restaurant. On February 19, 1938 she married Mark M. D’Elia in Our Lady of Lebanon RC Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. D’Elia predeceased her on January 6, 1986. In the 1940’s, she worked at Davis Dry Cleaners in Niagara Falls. In 1953, they adopted their son, who they named Mark Sebastian D’Elia. During the 1960’s and 1970’s she worked at the former Tops market on Hyde Park Boulevard, retiring in the late 1970’s. Alma was a longtime member of the Altar & Rosary Society at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and a member of the former Century Club, both in Niagara Falls, NY. In her leisure she enjoyed playing bingo, and will be remembered for her excellent baking skills and the many baking treats she shared with family and friends. Most importantly, Alma was always devoted to the care and well being of her loving family.

Mrs. D’Elia is survived by her loving son, Mark S.(Kathleen) D’Elia of Lewiston, NY; beloved grandson, Mark D’Elia; loving sisters, Frances (late Clark) Dye of California, Marie (Mario) Pirastru of Niagara Falls, NY, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
