Clara Heckman

Clara E. Heckman, 96, of Windsor died Jan. 7 in a Windsor nursing care facility. Clara was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Fort Collins to Henry and Mary Katherine Deines. She lived all of her life in the Fort Collins/Wellington area. She married Reuben Edward Heckman on Jan. 30, 1938, in Fort Collins. He preceded her in death in 1964. Clara also is preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Clara enjoyed hard work, she was a homemaker and worked at the Colorado State University Student Center cafeteria for more than 17 years. She was known as an incredible cook and her pies couldn't be beat.

Survivors include her daughter Carolyn Thompson (Bill) of Windsor; a brother Elmer Deines of Eaton; a granddaughter, Julie Baxter (Greg Pavlicek) of Broomfield, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel (121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins). Private interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Weld County in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
