LAUREL - Robert Michael, 80, of Laurel, passed away Feb. 17, 2004, at the Tender Nest in Billings.

He was born March 10, 1923, at Laurel, to Phillip and Mable Michael. He attended schools in Laurel and the Park City area. He was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church of Laurel. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two years on the USS Bunkerhill as Seaman First Class. Robert then was engaged in farming with his dad and brothers until he went to work for Western Equipment until he retired.

He is survived by four brothers, Jake (Pauline) Michael of California, Phillip (Irene) Michael of Park City, Edward (Sandy) Michael of Park City, William (Joan) Michael of Billings; and four sisters, Mary Krug of Laurel, Rosie Michael of Laurel, Lydia (Henry) Uffelman of Hardin and Martha (Marvin) Stricker of Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at First Congregational Church, Laurel. Interment will be held at the Laurel Cemetery, with military rites.

Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of arrangements.
