She was born in Hegins, PA on May 19, 1921, the 2nd child of Clement O and Ada E. (Kimmel) Merwine.
She was a graduate of Williamstown High School, worked as a packer at the former Olmstead Air Force Base during WWII, and later at Verdelli Farms in Hummelstown until 1966.
Ardys was a member of the quilting group at her church. In her younger days she made clothing for herself and her daughter; canned fruits and vegetables, and did many crafts. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo, and listening to music.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, James W. in 2005; 2 brothers, Lester and Clement; 2 sisters, Carol and Shirley; and a grandson, Matthew.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Birmingham of Hummelstown; sons Dennis (Dolores) of Manheim and John (Pam) of Pasadena, MD; 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons; 3 great granddaughters, and 3 great grandsons.
A memorial service will be held in her church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 Cocoa Ave, Hershey PA 17033, on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00AM. Joint inurnment with her husband will take place at 2:00pm later that day in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.
