Ellis -- Celestine C. Haas, 56, died Sunday, July 17, at his home.

Born at Antonino on Nov. 13, 1920, he was a farmer, stockman and dairyman, and a lifetime resident of the area.

He married Hazel Turner on April 24, 1944 in Antonino.

He was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of the American Legion and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ellis.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Gary of the home, Larry, Topeka, and Jim, Antonino; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Bieker, Wichita, and Carol Haas, Hays; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Haas, Victoria; three brothers, Alfred, Hays, Aloysius, Durango, Colo., and Francis, Clinton, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Philomene Schuckman, Mrs. Martina Reichert, Mrs. Irene Pfeifer, all of Hays, and Mrs. Adelaide Fisher, Ellis; and four grandchildren.

Funeral at 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fr. Paulinus Karlin; parish rosary 8 p.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Chapel, Ellis; church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. Monday.
