William Orthmann, son of Henry F. and Emma Dorothy Orthmann, was born January 22, 1872 in Benton County, Iowa. He was baptized in infancy. He passed this earthly life on December 26th at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 4 days.
In 1881 he moved to O'Brien county with his parents. He attended school at Paullina, Ia. He farmed near Paullina until about fifteen yeas ago when he moved to Hartley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Zerbena Hinkey and Mrs. J.C. Clausen of Hartley and Mrs. M. Schultz of Beaverton, Ore.
