Karl Groteluschen, 87, of Leigh, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Brookstone Acres in Columbus, Nebraska. He was born October 24, 1928, on a farm northwest of Leigh, Nebraska, the son of Henry A. and Helena (Cohrs) Groteluschen.

Karl attended rural country school near Leigh before going to Wilson High School and eventually graduated from Leigh High School in 1945 at the age of 16. On May 10, 1950, Karl was united in marriage to Marjorie Valish at the Presbyterian Church in Schuyler, Nebraska. They dairy farmed together in the Leigh area for many years.

Karl enjoyed traveling, camping, taking Sunday afternoon naps while listening to Polka music, and going to Polka dances. He was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shell Creek, Nebraska, where he served on the church council. He enjoyed his work and talking with friends, and truly loved the time he spent with his wife Marjorie.

Surviving Karl are: sons, David (Janelle), Dean (Julie), and Dwayne (Cindy); daughters, Dianne (Emil) Turek and Donette (John) Rinaker; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters Lorraine (Leonard) Vacha, and Luella (Jim) Kirk.

Karl was preceded in death by: his wife, Marjorie in 2015; his parents; and brother, Henry W. Groteluschen.

Funeral service on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shell Creek, Nebraska. Interment in the Calvary Cemetery in Platte County, Nebraska.
