Ernesto Córdova, age 88, a resident of La Joya, NM, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, July 24, 2016.
Ernesto was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Ernesto was a hard working machinist for Sandia Labs and retired after 33 years of service. Ernesto served on many boards including the La Joya Community Development Association, the La Joya Acequia Board and the La Joya Education and Charitable Organization.
Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents, Porfinio and Rebecca Córdova, brothers, Mariano, Ruben, Cesario, Francisco and Sesario Córdova, sisters, Eluvina, Beaulah, and Alice and children, Benjamin, Earl and Esther Bonnie.
Ernesto is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Stella Córdova, brothers, Leo and his wife, Bernie Córdova and Adelicio Córdova and his wife, Millie, son, Ernest Córdova and his wife, Sarah, daughter, Priscilla May and her husband, Roger, daughter-in-law, Margaret Córdova, grandchildren, Dennis, Sara, David, Laura, Rebecca, Andrew, Melissa, Gianna and Michael and great-grandchildren, Serafin, Noah, Shanelle, Sharlet, Sofia and Kieran. Ernesto is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A public viewing will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, with a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at La Joya Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons, David, Andrew and Michael and nephews, Edwin, Domingo and Frank. Honorary Pallbearers will be brothers, Leo Córdova and Adelicio Córdova.
The family of Ernesto would like to thank all who came to visit, bring food and prayed for him. A special thank you to his home health aides, Melissa, Ariela, Andrew and his nurses, Ida, Christie and David.
