Bernadina was born on Jan 4, 1869 (or 1870) and was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Negends or Niegendick) Westerheide.

She married Robert Borgerding on Aug 26, 1891 and they lived in St. Henry where they had their first two children, Edward John on June 28, 1892, and Alvina Clara on June 13, 1894. Robert worked in a glass factory and when the company moved to Muncie, Indiana, the family followed. Here they had a daughter, Elnora (Nora) Emma on Aug 18, 1896.

After a couple of years, the family moved back to Ohio to Burketsville where Robert became a farmer and they had seven more children, Monica Eloise on Aug 22, 1898, Anna on Jan 9, 1901, Joseph in 1903, Florentina on Oct 23, 1905, Ralph Marcus on May 31, 1908, Ernest Lawrence on Aug 19, 1910 and Anthony on Apr 1, 1913.

By 1900, they were living on a farm near St. Henry. After her husband died in 1927, Bernadina moved back to Burkettsville where she died on Nov 26, 1935, age 66.
