Ruby Mae Hansen, 93, passed away January 26, 2017 at Ramsey Village.

Ruby was born February 8, 1923 in Woodstock, Minnesota to Fred and Florence Dickey. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1940. During WWII, she relocated to California and worked at an airplane assembly plant just outside of Los Angeles.

Ruby married Harvey Hansen in 1947. The couple moved to Des Moines in 1957.

She enjoyed sewing and was an amazing writer. Ruby had been a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church since its beginning.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Randy (Lorraine) Hansen, Brad (Cheryl) Hansen and Jeff Hansen; daughter, Lesa (Mike) Moehle; sisters, Shirley DeBates and Betty DeSchepper; six grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Hansen, Carrie (Jacob) Naumann, Timothy Hansen, Sara (Daniel) King, Steven (Gemma) Hansen and Jesse Moehle; 11 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Emma, Claire, Ellie, Beckett, Audrey, Carter, Paul, Charlie, Augustus and Mia; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; five sisters; grandson, Matthew Hansen; and her beloved husband, Harvey Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5615 SW 14th Street. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruby will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
