Fred West Dickey was born on October 31, 1894 at Fairfield, Ill., and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dickey. Later he moved to Ashton, Iowa, and on September 21, 1917, was married to Florence McEnaney of Ashton at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple came to Woodstock and for the past twenty years had been engaged in farming.
Relatives left to mourn his death are the widow; eight children: Mrs. George Terhark (Freda) Holland; Miss Frances Dickey, Luverne; Mrs. Hans Marquardsen (Edith), Woodstock; Ruby, Gene, Vernon, Joyce, Betty and Shirley at home; one daughter, Lorraine preceded her father in death. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sons, Moberly, Mo.; Mrs. Joe Abbott, Fort Dodge, Iowa; one brother, Tom Dickey, Ashton, Iowa, and one grandson, Ronald Marquardsen.
Mr. Dickey was a member of Marion Synhorst American Legion Post of Woodstock. Military funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at that place and were conducted by Rev. John Lensink of Edgerton. The burial was in the Woodstock cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Post at Woodstock.
