J Walter Moritz, 84, died this morning at 4:15 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Byers, Gettysburg R3, after an illness of three months.
a native of Adams County, he was a son of the late Peter and Martha Lady Moritz. His wife, the former Maggie Lowe, died a number of years ago. He was a farmer and a member of the Fairfield United Church of Christ.
Surviving are nine children; Charles Moritz, Nitawin, Canada; Mrs.Luther Byers, Gettysburg R3, with whom he resided; Mrs. Edgar Aulthouse, Gettysburg R1; Mrs. Clarence Bigham, Gettysburg R4; George Moritz, Gettysburg R2; Frank Moritz, York R9; Paul Moritz, Fairfield R1; Floyd Moritz, Fairfield RD and Mrs. Arthur Cluck, Gardners R2.
also surviving are 37 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three brothers; Harvey Moritz, Starke, Fla.; Jake Moritz, Orrtanna R1 and Calvin Moritz, Gettysburg R2.
Funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 fro the Allison Funeral Home, Fairfield, with the Rev. Robert D Myers officiating. Interment in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
