A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Jean Cole Paul will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 13, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with Very Rev. John O'Brien officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Deville, under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, and resume from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the funeral home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the funeral home.
Shirley Jean Cole Paul, 82, of Deville, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in the comfort of her home after a short illness.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elmus Paul, Jr.; parents, Nicholas and Vickie Cole; two sisters, Dorothy Redwine and Doris Woodruff; six brothers, Elliot, Leland, L.J., Vernon, Nash, and Cobb Cole.
Shirley Jean Cole Paul was born April 5, 1935, to Nicholas and Vickie Cole in the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria.
Shirley is survived by her three children, Vickie Gardner (Rick), Susan Craig (Shane), and Father Thomas Paul; five grandchildren, Paul Gardner (Jennifer), Lori Pruitt (Jason), Katie Dunn (David), Casey Craig, Kayla Fountain (Heath); nine great-grandchildren, Jade Gardner, Violet Gardner, Ewan Gardner, Bailey Pruitt, Colton Pruitt, Cooper Pruitt, Lane Dunn, Charlie Dunn, and Riley Craig.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Rick Gardner, Paul Gardner, Casey Craig, David Dunn, Shane Craig, Jason Pruitt, and Heath Fountain.
