Peter “Pete” Schneider, 91, of Watertown, SD and formerly of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 13th, the birthday of his first-born grandson.

Pete was born in St. Michael, ND on July 30, 1926.  He was one of 12 children born to Sebastian and Catherine (Wolf) Schneider.  Pete grew up on a farm and attended country school there.

Pete was united in marriage to Lorraine Glatt on October 28, 1948.  They moved to Aberdeen and established their home there for 62 years.  They were blessed with two children, Ronnie and Becky.

Pete worked for the City of Aberdeen for 37 years, an accomplishment he was very proud of.  It was said that there wasn’t a piece of heavy-duty equipment or machine that he could not operate.

Most important, Pete was an ordinary, good man.  He didn’t have a great impact on the world, but he knew the Lord, loved his family, knew the importance of hard work, and always lived by the motto of doing the right thing.

Lorraine passed away in 2010 and Pete moved to Watertown in 2012, when he entered Jenkins Nursing Home in Watertown, to be closer to his son and family.

Pete is survived by his children, Ronnie (Margaret) Schneider and Becky (Rod) Glaesman; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one foster great-grandchild; three sisters, Maggie Kuntz, Christine (William) Heier, and Katie Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his parents, Sebastian and Catherine; five brothers:  Jerome, Tony, Louie, Mike, and Joe; and three sisters:  Mary, Betty, and Theresa.
