Ruth Anderson, 87 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society of Le Mars.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2019 at Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home. Family will be present at the visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. and there will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.

Ruth Mae Anderson, the daughter of Frank Arnold and Marie Catherine (Ericksen) Maass, was born on September 12, 1931 on the family farm near Remsen. She attended Remsen #2 Country School and graduated from Remsen High School in 1948. On September 5, 1950 she was united in marriage to John Burton Anderson at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. They lived on a farm south of Remsen and attended Union Presbyterian Church of Christ until they moved to Le Mars in 1960. They then attended and became life long members of the Presbyterian Church of Christ in Le Mars. She taught Sunday School, was a Deacon, was a member of the Evening Guild, and volunteered for many different jobs in the church.

Ruth was a homemaker until 1970 when she began working at Le Mars Community School where she worked in food service for 25 years. When she retired, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. She loved spending her time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family was her greatest love. She also enjoyed going to coffee with friends, gardening and growing roses.

Ruth is survived by her children: Larry (Joyce) Anderson of Le Mars, Joyce (Larry) Vander Wilt of Sioux Center, IA, Cynthia (Steve) Roosa of Le Mars, Robert Anderson of Le Mars, Roger Anderson of Boyden, IA, and Laurie Paquette of Chicago, IL; twenty grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; brother: Elmer Maass of Remsen, IA; sisters in law: Judith Maass of Paullina, Iowa and Judy Maass of Urbandale, IA; brother in law, Ed (Sandy) Anderson of Council Bluffs, IA; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie; husband, John Burton Anderson; sisters: Dorothy (Glen) Robinson and Helen (George) Bottjen; brothers: Roy Maass and Wayne Maass; sisters in law; Faye Maass and Alma Maass; and parents in law, W.G. and Frances Anderson.
