Jacob Lechman, born 3/5/1909, son of Alois Lechman and Constantia Appelhans, both born in Rothammel Russia. Baptized 3/7/1909 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka, KS, by Rev. Francis Henry. Sponsors were Jacob Merkel and Catharina Frank.

Jacob "Jack" Lechman, 78, of Royal View Manor, 1101 Crocker St., died of a heart ailment Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. No services have been planned. The body will be cremated.

Mr. Lechman was a resident of Chicago most of his life, before moving to Des Moines in 1985. He retired as a chef for hotels in Chicago.

Surviving are two daughters, Martha West and Connie Dykes, both of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.

Hamilton's Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
