Montrose -- Albert C. Lechman, age 84, a resident of Montrose for seven years, died on Sunday, July 30, 2006, at the San Juan Living Center in Montrose. Albert was born on Aug. 9, 1921, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Albert P. Lechman and Amelia (Drieling) Lechman.
During World War II, Albert served his country in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. In 1946,
Albert was united in marriage with Verna Klish in Chicago, Ill. Verna preceded Albert in death on April 6, 1971, in Boulder, Colo.
Prior to his retirement, Albert was employed as a machinist. He had lived in Chicago, Ill., Boulder, Colo., and I.H.B., Fla., before making his home in Montrose seven years ago.
Surviving family members who were honored to share Albert's life include one son, Alan (Rita) Lechman, of Boulder, Colo; one daughter, Lisa (Brad) Befus, of Montrose, Colo.; six grandchildren; Tyler Befus, Ava Befus, Vivian Befus, Rich Lechman, Angie Rohnke and Amy Lechman; one brother, Francis Lechman, of Topeka, Kan.; and three sisters, Marie Bunch, of Vancouver, Wash.; Betty Selgert, of Lake San Marcus, Calif.; and Marge Leichner, of Vancouver, Wash.
Inurnment will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11 in Fort Logan National Cemetery at Denver with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, In Memory of Albert C. Lechman, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402. Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home, 505 S. Second St., in Montrose, (970)249-4400.
