Jacob J. Desch, 95, Topeka, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1991 at a Lyndon nursing home. Mr. Desch was a material expeditor for Santa Fe Railway when he retired in 1968. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
He was born Sept. 23, 1896 in Topeka, the son of Adam and Elizabeth Desch. Mr. Desch was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a Fraternal Order of Eagles aerie, and a life member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2608.
He was married to Irene Rogers Dec. 30, 1924 in Topeka. She died April 1, 1985. Survivors include a son, Jacob J. Desch Jr, Topeka; a sister, Elizabeth Guyer, Topeka; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Desch will lie in state after 2 p.m. at Brennan Funeral Home where rosaries will be recited by the parish at 6:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2608 at 7 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
