KNOD Radio - Harlan, Iowa - Mass of Christian Burial for 81 year old Thelma Nelson of Elk Horn will be held 11 am, Thursday, January 21st, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan with burial at the Harlan Cemetery. Thelma passed away Friday, January 15th, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn. Survivors include her children: Tim Smith of Blair NE, Todd Smith and wife Shireen of Omaha, Traci Smith and friend Mark Haynes of Harlan; step-daughters, Janie Valdez and husband Gregory of San Antonio, TX and Teresa McLaughlin and husband Mark of Audubon; step-son, Jerry Nelson of Destin, FL; siblings: Albert Schwarte and wife Gay of Defiance, Karen Brinker and husband Clarence of Ankeny, Richard Schwarte and wife Myrna of Templeton and Joseph Schwarte and wife Vernita of Defiance; sister-in-law, Glenda Hall of Defiance; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 9 am to 11 am, Thursday, January 21st, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan. The Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of the arrangements.
