Called "Christian", he appeared on the US Census with his family when he was 8 in 1870, but had died, age 16, before the next US Census in 1880. Christian was born, like three siblings (Henry, Mary & William), was born in Darlington, Wisconsin. Their oldest sister Minnie was born in Braunschweiger, Germany, immigrating to America age 2 with their parents. In 1867, the family moved for the last time just across the Wisconsin border to Cass Township / Strawberry Point, Clayton County, Iowa. This is we're Christian's last three siblings were born (Charles, John Peter & Lizzie). It's also where Christian later died and is buried in St. Sebald, near Strawberry Point, Clayton County, Iowa, near the Wisconsin border. Iowa gravestones index says he was interred as "Johann Opperman". An image of the handwritten log church record of his birth and death is attached. "Johann Christian Friedrich Opperman" is entry #8, third from the bottom. Especially sadly, his 10yo younger brother they called "Charles", Georg Karl Opperman died in April, and so he is four lines above big brother Christian on the same page of congregant deaths in the year of 1878, St Sebald German Lutheran Church.
