Mrs Wilhelmina Oppermann Dies at Home of Daughter

Mrs Wilhelmina Oppermann, an old resident of Iowa, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs L C Jones, four and a half miles northeast of State Center, at 6 o'clock Tuesday morning, following a brief sickness. Mrs Oppermann has made her home with her daughter since the fall of 1918.

Mrs Oppermann was born in Braunschweiger, Germany, Oct 12, 1855, and came to America with her parents at the age of 2 years, the family settling at Platteville, Wis. Later they came to Iowa and made their home at Strawberry Point. She was married to H A Oppermann, at Strawberry Point, July 19, 1875, and they continued to make their home at that place, with the exception of three years spent in Missouri, until 1918, when they came to the home of the daughter at State Center.

Mr and Mrs Oppermann were the parents of seven children, six of whom survive. They are August, William, Emil and Fred Oppermann and Mrs L C Jones, all of State Center neighborhood, and Mrs Archie Northcott of Spring Valley, Minn. One child died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the French Grove Lutheran church, following prayer services at the home of Mrs Jones at 1 o'clock. The services will be in charge of Rev A W Brauer.
