Peter Joseph Melchior, 66, a lifetime Topeka resident and retired grocer, died Friday in a local hospital. He resided at 510 Sardou.
He was born March 30, 1895.
A veteran of World War I. Mr. Melchior was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Nocturnal Adoration Society, American Legion and American War Dads. He was a past grand knight and currently financial secretary of Knights of Columbus Council 2608, and past faithful navigator of James W. Gibbons Fourth Degree Assembly.
Survivors include his widow, Catherine of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Stadler of 224 Van Buren, Mrs. Loretta Brady of the home and Mrs. Teresa Monaco of Manchester, Conn.; four brothers, John of 216 Van Buren, George of 1108 Washburn, Jacob of 1516 E. 6th and Michael of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Schwerdt of 122 Quincy, Mrs. Anna Mermis of Gorham and Mrs. Barbara Porubsky of 235 Quinton; eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
