Services for Peter Melchoir, 72, at 212 Monroe Street, who died Monday in the Santa Fe Hospital, will be 8 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Burial will be in in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The body will lie in state at home until time of service.

Melchoir was born November 18, 1868 in Kamenka, Russia, and came to the United States forty eight years ago, settling in Topeka where he had since made his home.

For many years he was employed by the Santa Fe Railway Company as a boilermaker, but retired from service eight years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katherine Melchoir, of the home; six sons, John J. Melchoir, Albuquerque, N.M., Peter J., George, Joseph J., Michael, and Jacob J. Melchoir, all of Topeka; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Mermis, Gorham, Kan., Mrs. Catherine Beier, Mrs. Mary Schwerdt, and Mrs. Barbara Porubsky, all of Topeka; thirty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
