Funeral services for Aurelia Michalik, 91, of Palacios were to be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Palacios with the Rev. Dan Morales officiating. Burial followed at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Blessing.

A rosary was recited at 7 p. m. Monday at Palacios Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Michalik was born Jan. 29, 1906, in Brno, Czechoslovakia, to Frank and Anna Hojsak Mikesh and died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at DeTar Hospital in Victoria.

A lifelong resident of Palacios, Mrs. Michalik immigrated to the United States in 1910 through Ellis Island. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the KJZT and the Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Michalik George of Lumberton, Tex., Mary Jane M. Tedder of Kerrville, Agnes Michalik Winans of Channelview and Lucille Michalik Henderson of Pearland; by seven sons, John Michalik of Silver Springs, Md., Paul Michalik of Port Lavaca, Edward Michalik of Pasadena, Raymond Michalik of Brazoria, Charles Michalik of Palacios, James Michalik of Palacios and Frank Michalik of El Maton; by three brothers, Frank Mikesh of Portland, Ore., Charles Mikesh of Scappoose, Ore., and John Mikesh of Vancouver, British Columbia; by 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John A. Michalik, three sisters, Mary Mikesh, Julia Kocarnik and Helen Bukovi, and by two grandchildren, David Michalik and John Michalik.

Pallbearers were Tommy George, John Tedder, Troy Michalik, Allen Michalik, John Borgerstock, Charles Michalik Jr., Mike Winans and Brian Michalik.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary George, Donnie Tedder, Christopher Michalik, Rob Borgerstock, Michael Michalik, Joey Michalik and Danny Winans.

Memorials may be made to the Friends of Elder Citizens or the Stained Glass Fund at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Palacios.
