Philogene "Gene" Richard was the son of Oscar Richard & Euphemie Savoie. He was named after his grandfather Philogene Joseph Savoie. He was married to Anna Hanks. Philogene served in WWII in the Army's Infantry. He was wounded (had part of his heal shot off) in France, captured by the Germans and held as a prisoner of war and later released.

Funeral Services will be held at noon today at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Philogene Richard 75, who died at 9:05 p.m. on Monday, Jun 30 at the VA Medical Center in Rapids.
Father Joe Steffes will officiate for the services. Burial will be held in Ky Hebert Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Huey Richard of Lafayette and Louis Richard of Breaux Bridge; four sister, Lydia Daigle, Louise Leger, and Wilma Thibodeaux, all of Lafayette and Eva Carruth of Woodville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Hanks Richard and one brother,Bernard Richard, one sister, Dura Menard and his father and mother, Oscar Richard and Euphemie Savoie.
