Dennis E. Gilleland, 70, of Fort Dodge passed away on Thursday July 24, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday July 28, 2008 at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. The visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Dennis was born in Pocahontas, Iowa on January 10, 1938 to Elwood and Mildred Gilleland. Dennis loved being around his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He retired from truck driving after 42 years, after retirement he worked for Younkers. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, woodworking, collecting horses and helping others. He was an exceptional father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Dellene (Michael) Nielsen of Bartlesville, OK, Tracey (Daniel) Buenting of Pomeroy, IA, Joan (Craig) Nehman of Spencer, IA, and Vanessa Kress of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Brandon, Micheala, Zach, Jasen, Calista, Alexis, Eric, Caine, Rhys, Taylor and Chelsea; three great-grandchildren and sisters, Shirley Johnson of Pocahontas, IA, and Verlene (Dan) Schuller of Willows, CA. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; parents; brother Neil and great-grandson Macoy.
