Victor Klunck, 80, former Sheboygan general contractor, found peace at Luther Manor Health Care Center in Wauwatosa. He died there on his birthday, Saturday morning, October 4, 2008.
Victor was born October 4, 1928 in Sheboygan to John Gottlieb and Marie (Hense) Klunck. Victor served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany as a translator during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in February of 1953.
He began his construction career as an apprentice mason. In 1967 he enrolled in the Chicago School of Engineering at the advice of his boss at Scotty Smith Construction Co. His contracting skills led him into assisting his teacher in instructing the class on how jobs and materials went together, as the instructor had no practical experience in that area.
On May 3, 1958 he was united in marriage to Mary M. Senkbeil of Sheboygan. The couple owned Victor Construction Company and were partners in various Victor Group enterprises. Over the years he built many condominiums, apartments, warehouses, and fine homes in the Sheboygan area. Victor built Mary a beautiful brick home on Henry St. moving in on their wedding day. The couple shared many happy years together. Mary preceded him in death on October 2, 1995.
Survivors include a sister, Peggy Johnson of Thiensville; a sister-in-law, Caron (Dennis) Janko of Georgetown, Delaware; and brother-in-law, Robert (Monica) Senkbeil of Sheboygan Falls. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
His devoted wife, Mary; brothers, Gottlieb, Christ, Ernst, John, Otto and Alex Klunck; sister, Frieda Rautmann; and brother-in-law, William Senkbeil preceded him in death.
