George Sterkel

George Sterkel, 82, a resident of Loveland since 1912, died early Wednesday morning (June 9) after an extended illness.

Mr. Sterkel was a retired railroad man, having worked for the Union Pacific and for the Great Western Railroad in Loveland. He lived at 1228 Cleveland Ave.

Born Nov. 22, 1888 in Brunendahl, Russia, Mr. Sterkel came to the United States in 1906 and settled at Enid?, Okla. He moved to Lincoln, Neb., in 1909 and then to Loveland in 1912.

Mr. Sterkel was a member of the First Congregational Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational Church with Rev. Walter Kranzler officiating. Arrangements are in charge of Kibbey Funeral Home and Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.

Mr. Sterkel is survived by his wife, Katie, whom he married at Chester, Neb. May 12, 1910, by four sons and three daughters.

Sons are Fred E. of Los Alamos, N.M.; Walter R., and Floyd E. of Denver; and Manuel W. Sterkel of Huntington Beach Calif. Daughters include Mrs. Fred (Helen) Lebsack of Loveland; Mrs. Clyde (Pauline) Case of Denver; and Mrs. Chester (Frances) Bender of Weldona.

There are 27 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren
