Raymond C. Heinen, 83, Goff, KS, died suddenly early Thursday evening, June 15, 2006, at his home.
He was born January 26, 1923, on a farm east of Kelly, one of 14 children of John and Anna Schurman Heinen. Ray attended St. Bede's School at Kelly and learned to work hard on the family farm.
On January 30, 1945, he married Aurelia M. Rennenger at St. Mary's Church, St. Benedict. They lived and farmed east of Kelly, which is their present home. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1995. Ray enjoyed his occupation as a farmer and a stockman and was still very active.
He was a member of St. Bede's Church at Kelly, where he had served on the church council. Besides enjoying farming and cattle, he took pleasure in being with his family and liked playing cards.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Aurelia, of the home; four sons, Richard, of Wetmore, Gene and Wayne, of Goff, and Elwyn, of Hughson, CA; two daughters, Shirley Schurman, of Seneca and Marilyn Tiegreen, of Overland Park; a sister, Susanna Huerter, of Seneca; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, on June 2, 1952; seven brothers, Henry, Jacob, Aloysius, George, Joseph, Edward, and Leonard Heinen; and five sisters, Amelia Wilhelm, Elizabeth Wilhelm, Agnes Wilhelm, Catherine Sextro, and Marie Conley.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Monday, June 19, at St. Bede's Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
