Ernest M. "Ernie" Boeckman, 59, passed away, Thursday, February 5, 1981 at the Dechairo Clinic, Westmoreland, Kansas, following a heart attack.

Ernie was born July 29, 1921, at Lillis, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Helen (Stallbaumer) Boeckman. He was reared in the Lillis community and attended O'Brien (Hayroof) Grade School and Lillis Rural High School. He has lived in Frankfort, Kansas with his mother since 1960.

Ernie was a farmer in the Lillis community. He was a Army veteran of World War II, a member of Leo McMinimy Post 181 of the American Legion, Annunciation Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Fitzgerald Council 1144 at Lillis, Kansas.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Helen Boeckman, Frankfort, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Marcella Roeder, Frankfort, Kansas, Mrs. Eileen Meyer, Belleville, Kansas, Mrs. Rita Bogart, Godley, Texas, and Mrs. Mary Wells, Centralia, Kansas; and three brothers, Leonard and Elmer Boeckman, Frankfort, Kansas and Edward Boeckman, West Deal, New Jersey and forty nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph and brother Albert, and nephew John Roeder.

Services were held Saturday, February 7, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, Frankfort with Reverend Bob Hasenkamp and Reverend Tom Dolezal officiating.

Father Bob Hasenkamp officiated the graveside services at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lillis, Kansas with military services conducted by Leo McMinimy Post 181. The flag was presented to Leonard Boeckman and will be used in the avenue of flags at the Lillis Cemetery.
