Marcella M. Roeder, 86, Frankfort, died Sunday, April 16, 2006. Marcella Roeder was born Oct. 2, 1919, at a farm northeast of Kelly, the daughter of Joseph and Helen Stallbaumer Boeckman. She attended the Lillis rural high school and graduated in 1937.

She attended Kansas State University and Emporia Teachers College. She taught in country schools for five years.

She married Hubert H. Roeder May 9, 1944, at St. Joseph Church, Lillis. They lived on the family farm and milked and farmed for 34 years.

She was active in the Frankfort community. She attended Annunciation Church, was a member of the Altar society and managed the school lunchroom program.

She was a member of the Priscilla Club, the Progressive Homemakers and was on the Frankfort Library board.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert; two daughters, Helen Fry and Ann Matzke; four sons, James Roeder, Robert Roeder, Leo Roeder and Dennis Roeder; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Ernest and Elmer Boeckman; a sister, Rita Bogart; a son, John Roeder; and a great-granddaughter.
Mass of the Resurrection was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Annunciation Catholic church with the Rev. Jim Shaughnessy officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort.
