She then graduated on October 14, 1936 from Saint Vincent's Hospital in Erie, PA. as Clare Riley, RN.
She continued her nursing duties in the Erie area.
Clare entered the Army Nurses' Corps in 1941.

MEETS DEATH IN AFRICA
OSCEOLA, MILLS — Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Riley of Osceola Mills, R. D. have received word from the War Department of the death of their daughter, Second Lieutenant Claire Riley, a member of the Army Nurse Corps at the 45th General Hospital in North Africa.
Miss Riley was a graduate of Philipsburg High School and she worked in a Philipsburg store before entering nursing training. She was born June 29, 1913, at Osceola Mills, R. D., in Rush Township where her parents still live. Four sisters and a brother. Lieutenant James Riley, who is now stationed in San Francisco, survive.
After graduation from high school in 1931, she trained at St. Vincent's hospital at Erie. She became supervisor at the St. Vincent Maternity Hospital after taking a post-graduate course at the Sloan General hospital at New York City. She enlisted in the Army Nurses's Corps in September 1941 and was then sent to the Lawson General hospital at Atlanta, Ga. She was then sent to Camp Lee, Va. and left there in March for overseas duty in North Africa.

OSCEOLA MILLS - Full military services for Second Lieutenant
Clare C. Riley, former Osceola Mills Army nurse who was killed in North Africa July 1, 1943 will be held from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. M. P. Salmon, church pastor, and the Osceola Mills American Legion and VFW posts officiating. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
A graduate of the Philipsburg High School, Lt. Riley graduated from the St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie prior to entering the Army Nurse Corps in September of 1941. While in the States she served at the Lawson General Hospital.
At Atlanta, Georgia and at Camp Lee, Virginia.
Born in Osceola Mills June 29, 1913, a daughter of Joseph and Agnes Hughes Riley, she is survived by her mother and the following brothers and sisters:
Captain James Riley with the U. S. Army at Tokoyo, Japan; Mrs. F. J. Beezer, Philipsburg; Mrs. Francis Kloecker, Mrs. Lisle Britten and Betty, all of Erie.
