Was nurse's aide at Erie hospitals

Catherine L. Riley Britten, 72, 2660 Sigsbee St., died Sunday, Aug. 14, 1994, at Saint Vincent Health Center.
She was born at Osceola Mills, Pa., May 30, 1992, a daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Hughes Riley.
Mrs. Britten graduated from Osceola Mills High School in 1940. Prior to her marriage in 1946, she was a nurse's aide at the Shiners Hospital for Crippled Children and a maternity nurse's aide at Saint Vicent Health Center.
While her children were in school, she was active in St. Joseph School activities. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Beezer and 2nd Lt. Clare C. Riley, RN U.S. Army; and a brother, Lt. Col., James R. Riley, U.S. Army.
Survivors include her husband, Lisle O. Britten; three daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Andrzejewski of Fairview; Mrs. Becky Finch of Bell Flower, Calif., and Barbara Haener of Erie; a son, Thomas Britten of Conneaut, Ohio; twos sister, Mrs. Helen Kloecker and Mrs. Betty McAndrew, both of Erie, an aunt; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, West 25th and Sassafras streets, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will begin there Thursday at 10:30 a.m. followed at 11 by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
