Mary was a teacher in the Osceola Schools.
In 1936 she taught 5th grade.
Upon retiring she was the principal.


She was also the President of the Rosary and Altar Society of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Mary was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed playing for competition. She came in 2nd place along with her team of Ivan McGee, Steve Miller and Christine Hoch in the July 1971 Bridge Club.



Teachers Honored At Meeting Of Mothers Club

OSCEOLA MILLS - Mrs. Mary Beezer and Miss Vernice Gack were honored May 19, at a retirement dinner held in their honor by members of the Rush Township Consolidated Mothers Club in the school cafetaria. Mrs. Beezer retired as teacher-principal of the school and Miss Gack as district elementary supervisor. Three teachers who previously retired from the school teaching staff: Mrs. Edith Jacobson, Mrs. Sara Turner and Mrs. Nellie Casey. Together with five current members of the teaching staff were guests at the turkey dinner as were 10 past presidents of the Rush Township Consolidated Mothers Club. A number of former students helped served the supper. Mrs. James Wigfield, club president presided over the program and read a poem and presented each of the retirees with a pin. A monologue and a skit were presented. Mrs. Jack Thompson presented a slate of officers for the coming year and they were all elected. They include; Mrs. Robert Hoover, president; Mrs. Ruth Baughman, secretary; Mrs. Lynn Knowles, treasurer; Mrs. Ivan Bush and Mrs. Walter Smith, program chairman; Mrs. D. R. Handte, membership chairman; Mrs. Francis Matier, card chairman; Mrs. Paul Reickart, hostess chairman; Mrs. elmer Coover and Mrs. Keith Kephart, block parents chairmen.
Special guests introduced at the meeting included Mr. and Mrs. George Wesner and Miss Ethel Gack of Osceola Mills; Mrs. Agnes Riley, mother of Mrs. Beezer; Mrs. Helen Kloecker, Mrs. Catherine Britten and Mrs. Betty McAndrews all from Erie; Mr. and Mrs. James Riley, Selinsgrove; Mr. and Mrs. James Powers, Mrs. Christine Hock, Mrs. Sadie Gallagher of Philipsburg; Mrs. Geraldine Benes, school nurse and Mrs. Mary Malicki and Margie Frank, cafeteria staff members.
Special thanks were extended to Mrs. Robert Hoover, chairman of the dinner committee, Mrs. Jack Thompson and Mrs. Robert Mattern, who had charge of the decorations, Mrs. Herbert Reese, who handled the reservations, Mrs. Walter Smith, Mrs. Leo Hughes, Mrs. James Wigfield, who were in charge of entertainment; and Mrs. Paul Reickart, who had charge of the program.

MARY RILEY BEEZER

PHILIPSBURG - Mary Riley Beezer, 81, of Philipsburg died Tuesday, April 2, 1991, at the Presbyterian Home of the Moshannon Valley. She as born in Osceola Mills Oct. 16, 1910, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Hughes) Riley. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Philipsburg. She was a former officer of the Catholic Daughter of the Americas and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She was a retired school teacher with the Philipsburg-Osceola School District and a
former building principal with the Rush Consolidated School District. She was an avid bridgeplayer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ferdinand who died Dec. 31, 1959; one sister, Clare Riley and one brother Jim Riley. She is survived by one daughter Ann Powers of Philipsburg; three sisters, Helen Kloecker of Erie, Catherine Britten of Erie and Betty McAndrew of Erie; and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Philipsburg on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Neugebauer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Osceola Mills. Friends will be received Thursdayfrom 7-9 p.m. at the Beezer Funeral Home, Philipsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moshannon Valley YMCA, P.O. 426, Philipsburg, Pa. 16866.
