Last Rites Held For John Heer
Respected Citizen Passes Away Thursday Evening; Is Laid to Rest Sunday

Funeral services for John Heer, 67, were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian church with Rev. A. L. Ogden of Lincoln, officiating. Mr. Heer died Thursday night after an illness of several weeks.

John Heer was born April 18, 1874 at Shubert, Nebr., and died at his home in Table Rock October 23, 1941 at the age of 67 years, six months ad five days. He moved with his parents to Table Rock at the age of five and has made his home in and around Table Rock ever since.

He was the next to the oldest of a family of eleven children, three having preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage to Miss Maude Hays on May 10, 1899. To this union six children were born of whom the only one surviving is Mrs. Cecile Bowen of Table Rock, the rest having passed away in infancy.

Those left to mourn his death are his wife, Maude Heer, and daughter, Mrs. Stanley Bowen, and family; four sisters, Mrs. R. L. Law, Falls City; Mrs. Nancy Carl, Colby, Ks.; Mrs. Alice Warner, of Grand Island; Mrs. Carrie Johnson, Table Rock; three brothers, Charles, of Chicago, Ill.; Frank, of McDonald, Ks.; and Marion, of Topeka, Ks; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was an honest, sincere man, well liked by all those who knew him. He united with the Church of Christ at the age of eleven and was a personal friend of Rev. Ogden, former minister in Table Rock.

The out of town friends and relatives at the funeral were: Lett Johnson and Tom Bowers of O'Neill, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Lilge and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Law and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kelley, all of Falls City; Mrs. Myrtle Wilson of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Rex Day, Mrs. Frank Davis, Mrs. Charline Day and Mr. and Mrs. Neal Skillet, all of Humboldt; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hays and Mrs. Juliana Hays of DuBois; Mr. and Mrs. Lou Vrtiska of Violet and Mr. and Mrs. George Kent of Pawnee City.
