PASSED AWAY AFTER A LONG STRUGGLE

Alois Heer passed away at the Henneberger hospital in Atwood, Tuesday evening at about nine o'clock. His death followed a valiant struggle for life after being injured in an accident several weeks ago.

Lou fell from a truck and received head and body injuries. His condition was critical immediately after the accident but he made some progress and there was hope that he would recover. However, after a while he failed to respond as the doctors thought he should and about two weeks ago he was taken to the Hospital in Atwood and underwent an operation for the removal of a clot from his brain. The operation was of a very serious nature but he was progressing in a way that was encouraging when he suddenly took a turn for the worse the first of this week.

Lou had been a citizen of McDonald for the past ten years and before that was a farmer northeast of here. He acted as city marshall and street commissioner for several years after moving to town. Besides his immediate family he leaves a host of friends who sincerely grieve his untimely passing.

Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Heer of Denver were called Tuesday but a snow storm delayed their departure and they arrived Wednesday morning at about four o'clock.

Funeral services will be held at the Federated Church Friday afternoon at 2:00. Reverend J. S. Coppoc will be in charge. An obituary will appear in next week's issue.

He is not dead-this friend-Not dead
But in the path we mortals tread
Got some few trifling steps ahead
And nearer to the end,
So that we, too, when once around the bend
shall meet again, face to face,
this one we fancy dead.

CARD OF THANKS
We desire to express our sincere thanks to our many friends and neighbors for the sympathy and kindness extended us during the illness and death of our beloved father; to the singers for their beautiful songs and the many beautiful floral tributes. The deeds of kindness and words of sympathy in this sad hour will never be forgotten.
