Helen B. Honeyman, 75, of Seneca, KS, died early morning Saturday, October 14, 2006, at her home in Seneca. She bravely fought cancer.
She was born December 17, 1930, on a farm south of Kelly, the daughter of Joseph and Johanna Bokern Boeckman. She attended St. Bede's School at Kelly. Following school, she worked at the Old Dutch Mill and Harsh Drug Store in Seneca,
On October 14, 1951, she married Louis E. Honeyman at Marysville. After marriage she was employed at the Gilford Hotel and later went back to work at Harsh Drug Store. She worked for her brother, Ken, at the Prairie Lounge from 1966 to 1971, and continued to work there under new ownership until 1974, when she operated it herself until 1978.Beginning in 1978 she worked for 26 years at Crestview Manor in Seneca as a cook and dietician. Helen had also cooked at the American Legion in Centralia until it closed. Due to her health, she recently retired from Crestview Manor.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church. Helen always enjoyed music, and she really liked to cook. Her family was very important to her and especially her grandchildren.
Survivors are a daughter, Vickie Pfannenstiel of Elkhorn, NE; four brothers, Beck Boeckman of Camdenton, MO, Les Boeckman of Topeka, Jerry Boeckman of Hiawatha, and Ken Boeckman of Seneca; a sister, Martha Hutfles of Falls City, NE; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis on January 2, 1991, her son, Jeffrey J. "Jeff" Honeyman on April 1, 2003, and a sister, Bernice Smith on April 22, 1998.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
